Freddie and Franny were adopted from the San Francisco SPCA in 2015 as a pair of kittens. When their beloved guardian passed away in early 2025, their world was turned upside down. Suddenly, the two cats were without the person they had known and loved their whole lives.\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

At nearly ten years old, Freddie and Franny had been cherished family members since kittenhood. Being a bonded pair, they returned to the SF SPCA as a package deal. Our team made it a priority to place them in a home where they could stay side by side. Because they were part of the SF SPCA Sido Pet Protection Program<\/a>, they were never alone, and all their expenses were covered while our Adoptions team searched for their new forever home.\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

The road to recovery<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/h2>\n

But before they went up for adoption, Freddie and Franny both had unique medical needs that our team needed to address. Freddie required a dental procedure, which resulted in seven extractions. Franny, meanwhile, was losing weight despite a clean bill of health.\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

To better understand what was happening, the pair was briefly separated into different foster homes<\/a> so our team could keep a close eye on Franny\u2019s symptoms. It turned out she wasn\u2019t sick, she was simply stressed from all the changes in her life. Away from the shelter and with space to herself, her weight held steady, and she began to regain her strength.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Every step of their journey, from Freddie\u2019s dental surgery to their foster care, was fully covered by the Sido Program. Pets enrolled in this program receive complementary care at the SF SPCA Veterinary Hospital<\/a>, ensuring that pets are supported while in transition and long after they\u2019re placed in a new home.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Homeward bound<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/h2>\n

Thanks to the dedication of our staff, volunteers, and fosters, Freddie and Franny regained their health and confidence. The pair were reunited, and before long, the perfect adopter came along\u2014someone searching for<\/span> two devoted companions ready to bring joy into their next chapter.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n
