Planning a trip with your pet within the United States or internationally? You will more than likely need a Certificate of Veterinary Inspection (CVI), also known as a Health Certificate.\u00a0<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/section>\n\t\t\t\t

How to Get a Travel Health Certificate for Your Pet: \u200b<\/h2>\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t
\n\t\t\t\t
\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t

  1. Research the destination state\u2019s or country\u2019s<\/strong> pet-admission requirements on the U.S. Dept. of Agriculture’s (USDA) Animal and Plant Health Inspection Service (APHIS) website<\/a>. Be sure your pet is up to date with their rabies vaccination, other vaccinations (possibly DA2PP, Leptospirosis, or other) and\/or lab work (Rabies Titer, etc.) that may be required by the state or country you are traveling to. Not being up to date with the correct vaccines or lab work might delay ability to travel.<\/li>\n
  2. Complete this Pet-Travel Questionnaire<\/a> at least four weeks prior to your travel date<\/strong>.<\/li>\n
  3. Hospital staff will contact you within 48 hours<\/strong> to discuss the next steps.<\/li>\n
  4. Be sure to attach any necessary documents<\/b>, such as signed rabies certificate, vaccine certificate, Import Permits, etc., and email them to hospital@sfspca.org when you submit your Pet-Travel Questionnaire.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

    CDC Travel Requirement Update:<\/a>\u00a0As of August 1, 2024 dogs being imported from\u00a0high-risk countries<\/a>\u00a0will now require a Certification of U.S.-issued Rabies Vaccination form.<\/p>
