Weekly clinic provides discounted exams, vaccines, flea medication, and other preventative services<\/p>\n
October 10, 2019 \u2014 The San Francisco SPCA launched a weekly walk-in veterinary clinic focused on the most common preventative care issues seen at its hospitals and vaccine clinics. The clinic addresses two of the most common reasons why people do not pursue preventative care for their pets: convenience and cost. The reduced exam fee of $25 includes a limited wellness check with a veterinarian. Clients can access reduced-cost vaccines and preventative medications such as flea and tick control. The first come, first served format allows clients to arrive at their convenience. Free parking is available and the clinic is accessible by multiple forms of public transportation.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe Walk-In Wellness Clinic is an intermediary tier of care, between the SF SPCA\u2019s full service hospitals and free mobile vaccine clinics,\u201d explained Dr. Jennifer Scarlett, SF SPCA President. \u201cOur goal is to make veterinary care accessible to all San Francisco pets by 2030. This innovative wellness clinic will play a significant role in making that vision a reality.\u201d<\/p>\n
Accessible veterinary care is part of the SF SPCA\u2019s Vision 2030, which builds on the organization\u2019s groundbreaking work to end animal abandonment in San Francisco. For many years, shelters were mainly focused on re-homing animals in need of shelter. The work was hugely successful, and homeless animals now represent only four percent of the nation\u2019s cats and dogs. It is now time to shift focus to ensure that pets not only have homes, but also the care they need to be happy and healthy.<\/p>\n
\u201cFor 151 years the SF SPCA has been at the forefront of animal welfare, and Vision 2030 continues in that tradition,\u201d said Dr. Scarlett. \u201cOur goal is to positively impact five million animals in the next decade. In this first phase of our 10-year plan, part of our focus is on access to preventative veterinary care for the people and pets of San Francisco. Our Walk-In Wellness Clinic does that by meeting people where their needs are in terms of health, finances, and convenience.\u201d<\/p>\n
The clinic currently operates every Tuesday, 8am – 5pm, at the SF SPCA\u2019s Mission Campus, 250 Florida Street.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
